Vaccinations

Sheep (ovine) vaccination recommendations

  • Clostridium C & D and Tetanus vaccine – Initial vaccine given at or after 3 months of age with booster 3-4 weeks later. Then annual revaccination is recommended.
  • Rabies vaccine – Initial vaccination given at 3 months of age or older with booster given at 1 year, then revaccination every 3 years.

Goats (caprine) vaccination recommendations

  • Clostridium C & D and Tetanus vaccine – See above for sheep
  • Rabies vaccine – NOT APPROVED IN GOATS – We recommend vaccinating goats just like sheep and cattle, however the vaccinations on the market today are not "approved" in goats so they will still be considered "unvaccinated" by the law. Due to the fatal nature of rabies, we recommend vaccinating to reduce risk as efficacy of the vaccine can be extrapolated from other species.

Cattle (bovine) vaccination recommendations

  • Triangle 10: IBR, BVD 1&2, PI3, BRSV and 5 most common strains of Lepto – Initial vaccine given at 3 months of age or older with booster given 14-28 days later. Calves initially vaccinated under 6 months of age should be revaccinated 6 months later. Annual revaccination is recommended. 21 day slaughter withdrawal.
  • Rabies vaccine- See sheep protocol.

Alpaca & Llama (camalid) vaccination recommendations

  • Clostridium C & D and Tetanus vaccine- See sheep protocol above.
  • Rabies vaccine – NOT APPROVED IN CAMALIDS – see goat protocol above.
